PCT Launches Creative Hub Pilot

ree

After hosting multiple engagement sessions with residents, artists, and local organizations, Pulaski County Tribe (PCT) heard a clear message. There’s strong interest in a dedicated space where art, culture, and collaboration can take root.

Guided by that feedback, PCT is launching a six-month Creative Hub pilot at the former First Source Bank building, 100 W. Main Street, Winamac. The pilot will explore the long-term sustainability of a community-driven arts and culture space built for and by Pulaski County residents.

This initiative is supported in part by a $10,000 Creative Convergence Early Action Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission, in partnership with Ball State University’s Indiana Communities Institute. PCT was one of ten organizations statewide selected to explore how creativity can strengthen quality of life and local economies in rural communities.

The Creative Hub is envisioned as a place to learn, make, and connect. It will host workshops, educational sessions, art displays, demonstrations, and community conversations. Each element of the pilot will build on the ideas shared during community sessions, helping identify what programming and partnerships best fit Pulaski County’s creative landscape.

Research consistently shows that communities investing in arts and culture experience stronger social connection, increased local commerce, and greater community pride. The Hub aims to build on those outcomes, and PCT will share progress and lessons learned throughout the pilot period.

The project is still in its early phase, and this pilot will serve as a learning ground. Over the coming weeks, PCT will begin a soft launch, testing programming and gathering feedback to help shape what the Hub could become long-term.

“This pilot is about progress, not perfection,” said Brandi Larkin, President of Pulaski County Tribe. “We’re testing what works, listening closely, and adjusting as we go, all with the goal of creating something that serves our community well.”

The Creative Hub is a community effort. It’s an opportunity to turn ideas into action and see what’s possible when art, culture, and collaboration share the same space.
